Mobile Phone Subscribers in North Korea Hit 70,000!

North Korea is a secretive country to most of us because people could not get information about North Korea direct from North Koreans. And what we get now is mostly information from agents.Recently I found an interesting report that North Koreans have got the right to own mobile phones. That's really interesting.
Here's the exact report I found! Hope you'd like it!
Demand for mobile phones in the secretive North Korea has continued to remain strong, with the sole mobile network in the country, koryolink reporting that its subscriber base had reached 69,261 at the end of September. It is presumed that the subscriber base would have passed the 70,000 mark by the end of October.
Koryolink is majority owned by Eygpt's Orascom Telecom.
koryolink established many precedents: the first of its kind Call Center was established to cater for customers' needs through highly trained bi-lingual agents. Additionally, despite the conservative nature of North Korea and the almost non-existent marketing and advertising industries, koryolink's launch was advertised in major newspapers and radio. koryolink also managed to avail different BTL materials (flyers, posters, danglers) to create awareness and for customer education.
In the 9 months ending September 30, 2009 koryolink reported revenues of US$18.5 as one of the handful joint venture companies in a strictly controlled socialist country. Over the same period koryolink reported an EBITDA of US$10 million with a margin of 54%.
In its focus on network roll-out and network quality improvement koryolink has invested a total of US$25 million in the nine months to September 2009. Currently, network roll-out to extend coverage to the whole country is in progress.

koryolink's retail network has started off with just the one centralized sales shop. However, by end of Q3, there are now three sales shops for selling the SIM card connection. Also capitalizing on the cooperation with the local partner Korea Post & Telecommunication Corp. (KPTC), 9 post office outlets where added to koryolink's indirect sales network for selling Scratch Cards in different locations with an aim of reaching customers' in different populated areas of Pyongyang. More indirect sales outlets will follow with the future expansion of network coverage in other cities.
I wish North Korea will be much more opener to the world and become a prosperous country.People there are really miserable and we should offer them some donations to help them.

Snow is making trouble in some parts of China

Snow is my love. But now it's making trouble in some parts of China.
The recent snowstorm is really annoying.Because it's really so early. You know, people are not so prepared for the snowstorm.Weather in recent years are so changeable.Winter starts earlier and it's colder.
Two years ago a snowstorm in China made a horrible disaster in China and made its communications paralyzed. And it really taught Chinese a lesson! Some
people, especially the old died in the snowstorm.People were stuck in trains, waiting rooms and other places for days without enough supplies. What's worse, prices were soaring in a way that really made people crazy.Do you know,a bowl of instant noodles cost people ¥150-300,while usually it cost at most ¥5,The severe snowstorm made Chinese realize that how fragile China's transportation was.So they took some actions to change that situation.Talking about the snowstorm, some of my friends were still worried that it might occur again.

Now a snowstorm is hitting parts of China again! Some highways had been locked for at least 12 hours in the last round of snow.I'm wondering what the latest round will give us.Let's wait and see it!

Impression Art-------Red Ware!

Here I'd like to introduce something new to you-------Red Ware!
Yixing,Jiangsu Province, known in China as the"Pottery Metropolis",produces a much-valued red ware or boccaro ware.Teapots of this category made there were appraised as the best vessel there was, already in the Song Dynasty a thousand years ago.

Red Ware Yisxing earthenware is generally marked by simplicity and exquisite craftsmanship;it is also appreciated for its practical utility. The material, called zisha(purple sand),is abundantly available in the locality.Although not as white or as fire as kaolin,it needs no glazing and, after firing, the product is solid and impermeable, yet porous enough to"breathe".A Yixing teapot enhances the tea brewed in it in respect of colour, perfume, and taste. Its walls seem to absorb the tea and keeps its fragrance. In summer it keeps the tea overnight without spoiling. With hot tea inside,it does not scald the hand, purple sand being a slow heat-conductor.But in winter it may serve as a handwarmer and may be left on a low fire to make certain types of tea which need simmering. To the Chinese connoisseur,it is the"ideal teapot".

The purple sand of Yixing may also be made into other utensile. The earthenware steam cooker is a casserole which cooks with steam and appears on the dining table as a serving dish as well.Drinking vessels and coffee sets of red ware are also welcome to users because they are good in preserving the flavour of the beverages.A boon to flower lovers, the red ware flower pot absorbs excessive water, helps the soil"breathe",keeps the roots from rotting, and generally ensures the plant a healthy growth.

What makes the Yixing earthenware all the more attractive is the tasy designs it bears.Artisans cut or incise on the unburnt bodies pictures of birds and fish, flowers and animals,Chinese characters and seal marks all in the traditional style, thus turning utensils of practical use into works of art with national features.

Technical innovations attained in recent years have made it possible for the"Pottery Metropolis"to turn out many refractory kitchen utensils such as steamers, rice cookers, and pots, pans and dishes used for roasting. They can stand drastic change of heat and may be used on any kind of fire to cook food by boiling, steaming, roasting or frying. Thus new uses have been developed for the traditional earthenware.

Chinese folk arts-Silhouette Carving

Here I'd like to show you another interesting type of traditional Chinese art----Silhouette Carving! It's not so easy for you to find them in China. But they presents part of China's most dedicated and skilled artworks!

The silhouette carving, which is a branch of the Hui'an school of stone sculpture in Fujian, derives its name from its photo-like artistic effects. For its exquisite craftsmanship it is extolled as a wonder of China.
Using a variety of tiny chisels ranging in size from nails to needles, the artist consults the details of a photograph while carving on a piece of bluestone about two inches in thickness, forming patterns and images by varying the size, depth and density of the chisel points and alternating realism with abstraction. A piece of silhouette carving can be as large as more than 100 square metres and as small as 4 to 5 square cm.
The silhouette carvings made in the Hui'an County Stone Carving Factory are often selected as gifts for diplomatic occasions and shown in exhibitions abroad. If you'd like to get some from China I might help you.

Can India replace China as the world's footwear factory?

The growing menace of global recession has forced many European shoemakers to look for India rather than China as sourcing from India is becoming cheaper due to low cost. "India works out to be cheaper since labour is much cheaper and labour laws are less tough. China is proving to be quite expensive," said Rajiv Mehta, India MD, Puma.Yes, it's happening and China will try to shift its economic growth to much competitive level!

China-------A land for money for people all over the world!

China is now more and more closely tied to the outside world, especially in economics and culture. You might not be doing business with Chinese, but there might be something from China around you.To me, China is a great land of opportunities because China products are cheap and their quality is not so bad.If you'd like to get some handcrafts from China. You couldn't be cheated and they are rare in the USA,nor EU market. That is to say, you could get many unbelievably great advantages in price.

If you are laid off or want to find something new, take a look at China, especially when you have never been to China before. Some of my friends are getting supplies from China and resell them in the US and are able to make at least $5000 a year. There are so many opportunities that you could dig up in China that if you are tired of your life in the US or the EU,just come to the Orient!
My friends, I'm very glad to present you a great world of opportunities.Leave me a comment if you'd like to get some answers to your questions!

A show of Chinese Traditional Handcraft works!

Chinese have a  tradition of  bamboo crafts because China is abundant of  bamboo.Besides, bamboo is easy to be bent.Chinese found it's so easy to form different  structure such as buildings, baskets and so on.Now you could find many bamboo crafts in China. As Chinese government are promoting green society, bamboo baskets are returning to common Chinese life!
By bamboo crafts, we usually mean bamboo-plaited crafts. Dating to more than 2,000 years ago, bamboo items have been indispensable daily items for Chinese people. They include tools, construction materials, furniture, basketry, and decorative items.

China is the home of about 1/3 of the world's 1300 or so species of bamboo. As the materials, they are strong, light, smooth, straight, and round. They have hard outer skins, and they are free from any pronounced taste or smell.

Bamboo is found abundantly and grows and increases rapidly. Only four years old bamboo is ready for use. For this reason, using bamboo as one kind of material instead of wood, is the GREEN idea of saving rain forest. Bamboo's potential as a multi-purpose product for the global marketplace and the ease with which it is grown and fashioned into salable merchandise.

If you'd like to find some Chinese traditional bamboo crafts, just leave your comment here. I'll try to find some for you.
